Homes of Compassion specs: A LOW-COST SOLUTION FOR THE HOUSING CRISIS IN HAITI
For only $3500.00 an 18'x15 two room home can be provided for a family now living under a tent or a tarp. These homes are constructed with 20 gauge steel frames, and 29 gauge wall and roof panels with an insulated lining, on a concrete slab floor. The design helps keep out up to 95% of the direct heat of the sun.
This shelter is designed to withstand high winds, and its steel construction provides resilience to earthquakes. Each home comes with two windows and one door, and has a gutter system for collecting rainwater. The shipping crate material is designed to be used for bunk beds, table, and/or shelving for maximum efficiency.
The home is built to be functional for decades. By adding several structures end to end these buildings can serve as schools, orphanage buildings, medical clinics, churches, etc.
